The Tadewara Wetlands, just at the edge of the Kuju Mountain Range, offer several short walking trails that crisscross the marshlands. You can blaze through them in a fraction of the recommended time, but it's worth slowing down to take a glimpse at what might be growing near your feet. In early June, the fields were not yet full of the wildflowers that would bloom a bit later, but we still managed to find some intriguing species. Guided walks leaving from the nearby visitor's center can help you identify even more of what's along the trail.

Beautiful pics! Especially I love the first photo! I was always curious...what camera do you use to take these wonderful photos?
Thank you Takako! Most of my photos I take on my little Sony Cybershot (it just happens to have an awesome zoom). Lately, though, I've been taking close-ups like the first one on my husband's old Sony Alpha. (Clearly, we're a Sony family. :P)

Nice :) Japan does a great job with wetlands. I went to some beautiful ones in Hokkaido
Chris, this one was super nice, the facilities and staff were excellent ... and yet there were NO signs to tell you it was there!! I'd love to visit some more though. Oze is top on my list right now, but perhaps I should make my way back to Hokkaido sometime.
